Now, travelers can buy tickets and board buses for destinations around the country in one convenient location, as well as shop and eat! Popular destinations include Monteverde, Guanacaste, and Jacó, among others. At Aldea Hostel, we are in the perfect location, within walking distance to the 7-10 Terminal, as well as the TicaBus Terminal, which provides safe and comfortable transportation to all Central American countries. Music is integral to life here at Aldea Hostel. There is always music floating through the air. During the day, our receptionists play a wide selection of international reggae, Latin and chilled beats. As night falls, we move across the seas to Radyo Babylon, a radio station broadcast from Istanbul, Turkey. The music on this great station is a smooth blend of jazz, soul, r&b and funk. The eclectic mix sets the perfect atmosphere to relax in our red leather sofas, have a drink, and watch a game of pool happen.

Our location is perfect for visitors to San Jose, because we are within walking distance of seven of the major bus companies' terminals. This is useful both coming and going to other places in Costa Rica! Downtown San Jose is one of the safest places in Central America, and we are so close to the central district and all the major bus terminals that you don't even need a taxi! The best way to get here is using the Waze app. You'll find us in no time, 3 blocks from the Ticabus terminal, 7 blocks from the Transnica bus stop, where most busses from the north arrive, and a 10 minute walk from San Carlos Station for anyone who has come from the south. While San Jose is one of the safest cities in Central America, Aldea Hostel would like to remind you that tourists are sometimes the victims of predatory taxi drivers. Some of our guests have had problems with dramatic fare overcharges and dishonest drivers who pretend our hostel is full and take you somewhere else because they receive bribes from other hostels in our area. Just like how you would protect your valuables in a crowded market, you should protect your wallet from scammer taxi drivers. Always negotiate your fare before you get into the taxi, or insist on using the taxi driver's meter. Remember official taxis are red and have a meter in them. Be safe!
